500-rack module output

Should a 500-rack module have a balanced output, or is an impedance balanced output sufficient?
What do most manufacturers do?

I see for example that some DBX modules have a balanced (OpAmp) input, but an a-symmetric output, the '-' output even connected directly to ground.

I see a lot of transformer outputs as well as THAT 1646 type driver stage outputs.  Impedance balanced would be fine as well.

Yep, it's pretty all over the map. I've seen several single-opamp, impedance balanced outputs on 500-series modules. At least they play nice with unbalanced inputs.
