500 series straight-thru Card

I've got the Apex 500 rack U.S.B. interface which allows the use of 500 series modules.

However I'd want to be able to use outboard rack gear as an input to the unit.
How could I wire a blank D.I.Y. 500 series module so I could plug the XLR output of a rack unit into the input of the aphex interface?
Would it just be a matter of connecting the the edge card in connections to the edge card outs?

Yes. To boot Jeff at capi has some classy 500 series card edge connectors.  They are usually intended for prototyping stuff.  On these connectors are labels for "grnd, v+, v-, in, out, etc.... " written right next to the "gold fingers" which you would wire accordingly.  Seems a bit like it could get messy as far as wiring but to answer your question; yes it can be done.
