sorry if this is in the wrong forum..

i'm trying to acquire some 5534A opamps in TO-5 format. i was told that there were some in production early on, and it'd be great to find some NOS if at all possible.

any leads is appreciated. either 5534, 5534A, 5532, even SE5534 (old military spec'd ones) will do. where would i find this?
Can you tell me why you want them rather than the standard DIL versions?
To use with heatsinks, I suppose?

it's actually for a Urei BL40.

the original opamps are LM301. the tech shop i'm having it looked over carries LM318, but wanna try NE5534A's for possible improvement with the noise floor (not much of a competition against an old 70's opamp, but you know what i'm getting at).

if we did the 8pin, we'll have to solder, and for sake of swapping it out quicker (and perhaps i can keep the opamps handy to get different "tones", so to speak), we're looking for the TO-5 package.

if anybody's got leads, that'd be helpful.

i have one, they rock, it was much lower production, so much higher quality, as competing manufactures were rushing into wafer fab opamps, signetis, fairchild, philips, texas instruments built the giggest wafers back then as wafer size shrinks, noise goes up, no a big block of sand to absor noise, impurities,

i have heat sinks for htat package if you need any, to 220 stud mount very cool , like langevin, look at langevin output transistors, same cool steel can...

Something I have done is to use a wirewrap DIP 8 pin socket. You can form the legs to fit to the pads. I also tie wrap the dip to the socket you can wrap the tie wrap around the IC and socket.

Possable issues

Height
possible instability from the extra length in some circuits

How many are you needing? I have a very limited number, but I was wanting to use these myself.

Damm. This reminds me of this Nightmare I had. I had to switch every component in my recording chain before being able to record. I woke up long befor the aktuall recording started. :green:
