I've got an a7x that sort of died on me today. I can hear the tweeter, but nothing from the 7" speaker.

I'm going to pull it apart this weekend.

Anyone have experience with this? Schematic?

I've probably had these 7 or 8 years, so my understanding is that they are out of warranty,

Thanks very much.

Dan

HA! This EXACT thing happened to my Adam A7x two weeks ago!

Well, actually, it started with me replacing humming filter caps. Must have damaged the PCB because the woofer stopped working once I reinstalled everything.

My solution was to order a replacement amp assembly for about $250. They were backordered for a few weeks, but called yesterday to process my payment and send it my way.

Best of luck.

Thanks. Good to know what it costs.

I did contact them, so I imagine I will hear back today.

Sadly many of the newer active monitors just dont last , Smps are invariably a weak link , although class D amplification might be subject to failure modes in shorter time frames than traditional class a/b amps also.

I have a set of Truth monitors over 20 years now , still going strong .

Looks like a diode and a cap had a little smoke fest and took out some traces on the back of the amp board. Most everything is sort of potted with a layer of black hardened tar like goop, which is going to make fixing this thing a bear. I'm going to order another.
