AES cable

Hello ,
I need to built 9db pin to 25 pin d-sub cable for AES protocol .

What cable should i use ? Can it be just regular mic cable or need something specific ?
Same thing for connectors, just usual audio stuff or something specifically for AES ?

It's also a great-sounding cable for audio. I have a 75' stereo pair of the 3080 that I use quite often. It's capacitance IS higher than standard audio cable (if that metters to you; it doesn't to me, at the lengths I use).

Mogadishu W3162 is their 8-channel AES multi core snake. 110 ohm. If you need to fit several wires into a DSub hood, the multi core will fit better than mic cables.

Canare and Belden (and others) make similar multi core.

How long is your cable going to be ?
Technically "110 Ohm" AES cable should be used. But any decent screened twisted pair cable will work well over reasonably long lengths.
There is the question of signal reflection but it's not a large factor over normal studio distances. Especially if you are not relying directly on the AES-3 signal for clock timing wrt jitter. And, after all, there is nothing "110" Ohm about DSub Connectors.
However, if you need to buy the cable anyway then a "proper " AES multicore, as discussed above in the thread, is likely a preferred option.
