I'm trying to help out a friend with their ML9600, where the CD burner quit burning discs consistently. From the docs I found from Alesis, there are some big differences between units built before/after 2008 and there are only a handful of CD drives that will work. Those drives are becoming more and more obsolete and harder to find. I tried a Lite On iHAP322-98 W, which is good for OS 3.02 or higher.
His unit is from 2000, but has the V1.27 EPROM upgrade and is running OS 3.03, however the docs from Alesis say that units built prior to 2008 should only use OS 2.21
The old drive that was in it was a Lite On iHAP122.
