AMD vs Intel

looks like AMD is killing it... their 3970x (32 Cores - 3700 MHz) CPU is way ahead of current intel CPUs! not to mention 3990x with 64 cores  although its slower 2900MHz, but still faster than any Intel CPU!

looking at mac store fully staffed mac is almost 60K 
and their best processor is
2.5GHz 28‑core Intel Xeon W

There are some AMD processors that are insane, haven't looked the Intel equivalents.

Back in the day I used to own a lot of AMD computers, in my experience Intel was more reliable, less errors when performing heavy calculations, gaming, etc... but that was in the early 00's, so I can tell how they compare nowadays.

my understanding is AMD s are still a little problematic with audio applications!
Steinberg is on investigation for latest AMDs for solutions....

but, in 3D, VFX animation "smoke, fire and water" which need ton of processing power,
Intel is smoked by AMD big time!
i am in to Maya and simulation lately, and my 8 core i7 7820x doesnt have the juice for!
although, in cubase, over 100+ tracks full of plugins etc, i barely hit over 50-60% of my CPU
and its stable as hell!
