Digikey is out. Analog devices has it as discontinued due to rohs. So is there any place I can get some of these IC's they are for our SSL 9000. I would hate to have to mod it to work with what analog devices says is a chip that will work in it's place.

Last time I checked Digikey wanted a 25pcs minimum order. They won't do that anymore? I need to buy some soon. If you need to make a minimum order let me know and I'll get in on it.

well minimum wasn't a problem. problem is discontinued... trying to find a work around for our 9000 or ssm2402 would be better.

I'm sure there are plenty around. Try contacting a couple of the obsolete component places like http://www.procureinc.com/part.php/SSM2402
If you need a bunch just get a lifetime supply. You could probably sell them to your competitors at a profit. I'd help a little with an order.

I know... trying to find  a place like that. analog devices suggested rochester electronics aside from some analog device ic's that are in current production. The ones in production will work but I am not about to start modding a semi-new less then 7 years old SSL just because I can't get a chip. rochester electronics I called and their sales lady was less then interested that I needed some even when I said I wanted an order of 100. their website says they got them, she said no. I doubt she looked it up..

Generally those places want a $500-$1000 minimum order. Since they are recently out of production there must be a ton floating around. It will just take some detective work. Paleoscatology -the science of old ****.

not to brag but that's not a problem for my employer... and yes dam you rohs. It may be good for the environment but lately it's been a pain in my ass.

Hey Pucho,

I found a place that can get them. I got a quote of $15ea for a quantity of 25.

I know this thread is old but I'm working on an 9000 now and one 2402 has retired.

any news on suppliers?

I tried rochester, at $7 ea, price is good but need a minimum order of $250...
I'm fine with that but I'm sure I can't convince the owner unless there's really no other option.

thanks!

welcome to my world. ;) rochester is a great option. there is an updated version of the chip but far from a drop in replacement. If you could get that work? cool but good luck.
