Hey guys!
I have been watching this forum for a while. It was the only reason I even went to recording.org for a long time. I am fairly new to "line-level" stuff. I have been making and repairing guitar amps for a while. So im still kind of a newb.
But anyway I am really interested in making a couple of preamp projects but I am even more interested in making input and output transformers. I have been doing TONS of research and have much info that I can post if anyone wants it. The info includes formulas for (core size, wire size, turns ratio, ect. ect.
But I still have a few questions about mic input trannys? like are most of them toridial? or EI? Also Does anyone have any idea where to go about buying laminations? or toridial cores that small? Oh by the way If anyone happens to know where to find nickel alloy steel type cores? (like the kind jensen uses) that would be kool too.
I know transformers are something alot of people dont want to get into, and after the research I have done (I can see why) but from my point of view the benefits would be worth it. Imagine the freedom one would have If we could make our own trannys.
