Paul W, my 'connection' to AKG is via Bernhard Weingartner who designed CK12, C12 and loadsa other stuff for them. His encouragement of Clem Beaumont, my mike mentor, led directly to the founding of Calrec and my involvement with microphones.
Those of us from that 'AKG' line look on with horror at da EVIL Neumann type centre-terminated capsules in da 'new AKG' stuff.
But if you are happy with these, grab them. IMHO, Matt has been an important factor in getting 'Chinese' production up to a higher level .. especially for consistency.
I've often said there are Chinese engineers and makers who want to make the best microphones, speakers, cars etc in the world .. rather like Akio Morita and Soichiro Honda in 50s Japan.. We are only just beginning to know who they are.
Maybe Matt will be one of the first to find out in our little field

PS Yes. IM not so HO, Matt's curves for capsules & complete mikes (especially the latest ones) are more 'accurate' than most.
