I am looking for some ways to try and colour the output of my synths. I have been ivestigating some interesting DI boxes like the Avalon U5 or the Groove Tubes Ditto Box.

I found a UTC A-20 lying around my office and I was wondering if there were any simple circuits I could build with this?

thanks!

btw, I am especially interested in weird or lo-fi results! I am not looking for clean.... tone coloring would be great!

i'll trade you a colored xfmr for an a-20-- a rather clean tranny at any reasonable level...you could use it after a makeup gain opamp in a passive eq.
edit: experiment...driving from a hi-z out should give some bandwidth limiting, and you can mess with different winding configurations

If you use an A-20, you will not notice much color, if any.

Try an ouncer.
You really have to drive a small Ni core to get the funk.
