Battery power mods for a M-Audio DMP3?

The DMP3 runs on a 9vac wall wart. There has to be a way to mod it so I can run the wall wart or use batteries to power it. Have any of you done this?

 
It's probably using a voltage-multiplier to get +/-12VDC and +48VDC for phantom.

The least-complicated hack would be two 12V batts and five 9V batts.

It might run on 12VDC plus a square-wave power vibrator. Or it might blow up.
