Hi,

I'm in the process of getting all the parts for the G1176. There is a serius problem getting these buddies. Maybe someone have some spare ones.

If so give me a shout!

further, what is the difference of getting the other suggested ones BD139/BD140. I've been told that the BD517/BD18 increase gain more like the original 1176? Maybe somebody can clear this out for me?

Regards,

/Newbie

Hi Plexi,

Welcome to GroupDIY!

Gain isn't affected by output pair choise, but the 139/140 don't like shorted output for longer time.

Try asking in "The Black Market" - all kinds of stuff can be found there, and I think I've seen 517/518 there as well..

I used BD135/136 instead of BD 517/518.
If you built your G1176 on mnats boards there´s a version ready for them. If you have Gustav boards you have to bend the legs because the pinout is different. Frank "nrgrecording" Röllen has dedicated a site to this problem :

:sam: and happy soldering

Thanks guys!

Unfortunately I just paid 36 ? for ten of these rare buddies. I hope they will suprise me when they show up. But I have other problems getting the meter SIFAM AL-29 WF. I made contact with SIFAM U.K., I tried to buy straight from them. But they forwarded me to the Scandinavian distributor, and their storage is located a ten minutes walk from my home . They cant take orders over disk, so I have go through Stockholm. Talk about ironical **** (The meter is in there and I want it).

Thank you guys and make sure to have a good one!

Jakob E.[/quote] O.K I got the message shorted=kortslutning in scandivian language. We do not want that here, I think I got the suggested replacement number wrong. Thank you! Well its friday night. I'm gonna get shorted with a couple of beers up her, Good evening!

Hello jensenman,

Thanks for the feedback!
Back to the project, You might know where to find the 24 voltage regulator for the G1176. Or you might know any substitute for the
LM7824 24V regulator.

I don´t know your sources in Sweden, but any electronic pusher should have them in stock. Not having them is like going to a gig without your guitar.
German sources are:
www.farnell.de
www.reichelt.de
www.conrad.de
www.rsonline.de

Sometimes they have different names like LM, uA,... but the number 7824 is always the same. Get yourself the 1A version in TO220 housing.
