Best type of microphone / project to use with Spring Reverb / Plate Reverb / or other surface applications ?

Are there any dedicated projects around for microphones that work perfectly for all applications that requiere the mic to have direct contact ?
Mic + Amp would be interesting, Stereo if possible.

Yeah thats a take to go i think, but i was more interested what has been used professionally and if there is any special mechanics in placement and amplification involved
