Some brazilian audio transformers done Guilherme @ Lynx Audio

From left to right:

MT1/7 - first prototype of 1:7 mic input, no mumetal can yet :(
AT600/600G - Neve gapped output for BA283AV
AT600/600 - a 600R 1:1 output one, really good on 1176 and API stuff...
AT15k/650 - output one for tubies... to be used on Pultec MB-1 micpre.

What I like about Guilherme is that he puts IRON in it. I think those are the best tube output transformers I ever tried.

Let us know how the mic input goes when you have a chance to test it, Fabio!

Yea Rafael, this things are really well built!
Very curious about the input one. He used the same lams of API transformer out, but Perm 80. Lets see how it work without the can...

Michael, they are about US$55 ea.
He already ship some output types to guitar amps to Sweden on regular basis so yes, he is up to that. Here´s a great guy, gives me a lot of support...

They are about 43 euros FOB - just checked their website, with shipping, customs duties and VAT which you have to pay when importing goods from outside EU you are looking at something in the range 60-70 euro.

I can vouch for Guilhermes product, i use his transformers exclusively in my guitar amps.

I could volunteer to oversee a european group buy if there's enough interest. This could be piggybacked on my own next order of transformers, that way shipping chrage will be lower. You won't be able to avoid VAT unless you are a VAT registered enterprise in EU.

Any interest ?

Alex

Peter,

Indeed it is a very good option, at least for my taste.
I´ll send one of this G´s soon to CJ so he can apply the same test he did on Carnhill and Sowter.

Yep, I want to go for a pair of the 600/600G. I would hook them up to some NTP-M100 clones like Rafa did. Add JLM input transformers and I will have an australian/danish/brazilian sandwich. :thumb:

Thanks Fabio, based on the description @ your site we might like the same sound (- perhaps also the same food ?! ) .

So let's bump this thread, or should it be moved to the Black Market ?

I'm in for two gapped TXs.
Any others ?

Bye,

Peter

I've been wanting to try one of these in a 283 circuit for a while, ever since Raf told me about them. I hope Fabio and CJ can work it out so CJ can do his tests (without taking one apart) on the Lynx and compare it to the Carnhill and Sowter.

Someone should try this in a 108l too!

CJ,

If you like this one I´d more than happy in having some of your wonderful T4b back instead of it

Let's not rush. Altough i'm certain that Lynx transformeras are great I think it will be a good idea to wait for CJ's test results before doing the group-buy thing. This way we will also be able to give some feedback to Lynx and give them an opportunity to improve the design if need be. I'm sure they'll be cooperative. We wouldn't anybody to be disappointed.

Do you guys think this is a good way to do this ?

That looks like a perfect way to do it !

Thanks,

Just in case any of you guys are interested in trying these Lynx trafos, I'm about to order a few of the AT600/600G for myself. If anyone wants some, I'm willing to be the point man for a USA group order (which would bring the cost down for all of us, hopefully).

I want to place the order on Friday of this week as I need mine rather quickly, so if you want one/some please let me know asap and I'll get a total count and quote. Right now I think the AT600/600G will be around $45 each in quantity. Not sure if it'll go any lower, but I'll check based on the total requests I get.

Lynx also makes a non-gapped version too for all you api-types out there. That one is called the AT600/600 (no "G"). Both are 1:1+1 types. Info at http://www.audiolink.com.br/audiolink/transformadores/audio.htm .

send requests to r7fm(at)integrity(dot)com and I'll get back to everyone with totals. If all sounds good, then we'll move forward from there.

Much peace,

JC

PS - if there is already a group order for these in progress that I'm unaware of (and there may be....) please let me know, and I'll just go in on that instead.

rascalseven - I'm interested in a few of the 600/600 and 2 600/600G

I was hoping there'd be some interest in buying quantity to bring the price down, if Fabio had a hand in the design, I want some...

Hi guys,

since I originally offered to do the european group buy I'll stick to my word.

PM me with your requests and i'll get back to You. I'll get european prices sorted out next week, have to talk to Lynx. You know, custom duties, shipping, VAT etc.

However, bear in mind that if you're not a VAT registered enterpise You'll be punished with 25% of swedish VAT.
Perhaps it would be wiser to run this from a country with lower VAT rate like UK or Germany who are on 17.5 % ?

Let me know

Alex

Well, maybe it´s not the best way to do things, but if anyone wants to skip some customs tax when receiving the transformers (I guess it just apply to big orders), I would be able to guy the trafos for you and send it as "used transformers" with a lower price declared.

I talk to Guilherme every time. He is a great and very helpfull guy! Also a good friend. I have already bought some 20 transformers and chokes from him. He also make very nice chokes, so I guess, I would be able to help if needed.

I also can take PayPal if he can´t, and forward the money to him. He asked me to do it once. So, just let me know if any problems arise, and I will help if I can.

The transformers are really nice. I never used the 15k650. I got a pair, but it´s waiting for my RE#DD47 clones to be ready. It´s a little smaller than the 10k600, wich by the way are GREAT!

All his transformers use M4 lams, wich are very common here in Brazil. Beter thatn M6 or M5, as far as I know. We have no nickel cores in here, but lots of M4...
