I'm looking for a solid state replacement for an ob2 tube. Intern broke one as he was trying to rack the MCI. I told him not to touch but he did anyway.

I'm thinking a zenier diode like a 3 watt would do me just fine

An OB2 is supposed to run at about 20mA. The circuitry around it is dimensioned for that.
that works out at a tad over 2W. So a 3W Zener should be adequate.
BZT03D110 seems to be perfect.

thanks. this would be the second ob2 tube that would be replacing so zener should be cheaper all around
..

and to connect I would put the diode where pins pins one and 7 connect.

in the OB2, 1 & 5 are connected, as are 2. 4 & 7. This arrangement is intended to disconnect the high-voltage when pulling out the regulator tube.
When replacing with a Zener, you may have to jumper some pins.
