So Ive been wanting to voice over and stream videos.
I have a really deep voice that just sounds cut-off/badly compressed when recording using small mics present in phones&laptop. Then i found out about LDC mics, and unfortunately its price.... and so like many other niche (audio) hobbies, I turned to diy.

My first problem was sourcing the capsules themself as stated in my introduction post. Thankfully with a 20% markup, theres a service to import. Ive been eyeing the takstar/desheng CTS-3.

Now then, can i just replace the existing capsules in these sub $20 usb condenser mics:

Or do i need to make my own circuitry like this fella has done:

Any opinions, thoughts, recommendations, and feedbacks welcome

Yes, usually you can swap the capsule for a different one, but (assuming it's a condenser microphone) there are different types:
- electret with built-in FET
- electret without built-in FEt
- externally polarised

A photo of the existing capsule would be useful here.

Also, there are variations in how the capsule is mounted which may mean some extra work.

Ooh, I have to buy the thing to actually get the pic of the capsule

In case it’s an electret with built in FET, I just need to add a FET to the CTS-3 capsule right?
But what if it’s an externally polarized one? I’m not sure what to do in this case as I can’t find takstar CTS-3’s datasheet.

As for mounting, I am planning to make my own body and mount. Just need the cheap pre-amp to usb circuitry
