cheap 1073 style eq

fits a 500 rack. price is inexpensive.  So I wonder why you can't use it as a stand alone? they say it is designed to me inserted. Is it something as simple as not having balanced in and out. hmmmmmmmm.  might have to pick one up to play with just to see what is what.

Really weird that it has to be used with their pre. I doubt it's necessary. Maybe it doesn't have any makeup gain built in?

Yeah I am wondering about that it's simply unbalanced i/o?

Filters are presumably unbuffered. Original circuit is designed for high source impedance. Output will require specific loading to function correctly.

parts quality aside , the golden age neve style pre looked good for a good price even adding a couple new features

Have to say they do look very interesting.

How hard to embed in a rack with suitable intput buffering and makeup/line amps.

Could wind up to be a really interesting proposition with a number of flavours.

I think a pair in a 2RU with some tube make up/line amps and maybe some traffo coupled tube input stage.
Cost would be around the same as some similar things I've costed for a nice eq with inductors in a rack.

I wish I was at the beginning of the diy adventure rather than in  the last miles.

I would have gone for this for sure.
