Special thanks to NYDave, PRR, Jakob and everyone!

The person coming into your studio looking for cookies is going to be uuuuuuuuuupset!

Nice job!
But... where are the cookies, man, where are the cookies?
Behind the can.

The big question is: are you working on a matching 'stealth' headset made from tuna fish cans?

It's a great idea!

------------------------------------------------------------------------Seriously though, that should sound amazing. What's the story Seth?

My wife gave me a really nice pair of headphones for Christmas. The first thing I realized is that the little headphone amp in my CD player really sucks. I started looking around for design ideas and got many great suggestions - Headwize, Jakob and NYDave had several tube ideas that I'd still like to investigate when I have time. PRR also mentioned that some of the discrete op amps would be suitable for driving headphones and I realized I had everything I needed already here - except an enclosure. I didn't want to spend a bundle on a box, and I wanted something I could use in the living room without my wife having a fit if I left it there for a day or two. My eyes fell upon the cookie tin, and there you have it. Innocuous and it sounds great. I couldn't have done it without the always gracious help of everyone here.

Here's a new avatar for you.

 But I like my kitty....

Leave it to NYDave! From zero to food in 3.5 posts! :green:

That's a pretty clever device you have there, Seth. It's making me think about alternatives to standard cases.
Right now, I'm eyeing five cookie tins, that are long and narrow, like Pringles cans, only made of metal. Mic preamps, anyone? :green:
There you go!!

Hey, Seth! Remember those two mic preamp cards from the MCI desk you sent me? Those two plus a power supply just might fit into one of those cans. I think all I'd need are a set of jacks, pretty much.

I have built a prototype mosfet guitar overdrive of my own design in a coffee can and a Fuzz in a small soup can. The reason I did it was it was late and I did not have any project boxes. Funny thing people like then for the "cases"

When I walk thru stores I fid myself looking at all kinds of cool shaped stuff that might fit a circuit.

I almost forgot: one of my first DIY projects, many years ago, was a transistor fuzzbox built inside a cigar box! I used it with an ancient Webster-Chicago phonograph/PA amp. Along with a cheesy Harmony solidbody, that was my first rig.
