Looking for noise tested JJ 12AY7 tubes, if you know any webstore selling tested tubes please let me know.
I know NOS is better, but client has many identical mics they want identical sound.

The EH Gold are nice new production tubes in math the 12 series flavors, they have not failed at anything we have thrown at them when compared to other modern production tubes. Having said that, we still prefer vintage tubes whenever possible. I have vintage tested NOS GE and RCA (and a few others) microphone grade tubes (6072A and 12AY7) that sound amazing, and I am sure we have enough to match a pair - but prices would be considerably higher than an EH tube I would assume.

Yes EH Gold are very full and good quality sounding but they all lack the vibey character of NOS tubes. When I switched my Heiserman 251's to matched NOS RCA's from the TAD they come with it transformed into 3D with silky highs; sorry about the cliched description but the TAD tubes they were using were flat sounding. JJ are not cool. I still can't believe they have the monopoly on unmatched expensive 6386 which are as much as old ones.

Those things will outlast that new production stuff, many times over. Plus, if tested and quiet - they sound absolutely wonderful.
I bought a Peluso 2247 over 15 years ago, and although it sounded good overall, there was something about the high end that always bothered me, and it was a bit noisier than I’d prefer. A couple of years later I replaced the off-brand 6072 in it with an NOS GE black plate from Brent Jessee, to make a final decision if I was going to keep it or sell it, and it transformed it into one of my favorite sounding mics, and lowered the noise floor considerably. I’ve used them in a couple of other things since, and the difference isn’t b.s. Beautiful sounding tubes indeed!

Brent does a great job... Shhhh
