dbx 202 pics? or pcb layout?

better signal to noise ratio for one.....

2vca = 3dB better. 4 vca=6dB better 8 vca 9dB better (i think 9 and not 12)

maybe its 6dB per doubling instead of 3.. which would mean, 6dB for 2, 12dB for 4, (18 or 24)dB for 8.


other reasons.... dunno probably some very valid reasons for it, especially when these were designed.

there is probably some harmonic distortion that factors into the equation
 
Guys, I tried to redraw schematic of 202r from Tekay's layout. And here it is :? Must admit that I don't understand how it works :cry:
BTW, I hope that CA4570 is NEC dual opamp so I substitute with NE5532

Those in the picture look like Clarostats and they're probably one of the few who can easily make up 6 or 12 gang versions - at a price!
