Sector voltage at my studio is low. Measuring 113 V AC and unstable (as seen on my Furman power conditioner). As a comparison, I'm measuring 119.3 V at home, and the unit has never failed on my home bench.

When voltage hits a low point, the compressor will stop functionning.

When I built the unit, I cheaped out and went with diodes instead of a 6X4 tube on the PSU circuit.

If I was to  switch to the 6X4 tube in the circuit, is my unit more or less likely to be affected by low/unstable sector voltage?

Any other ideas? It seems to be the only equipment in my studio affected by this.

Your compressor should be tolerant to +/-10% of mains voltage deviation. If it doesn't work on 113V, something is faulty inside. Using 6x4 instead of the semi diodes will not help, just contrary it can make things worse.
First, you should check/measure/compare AC and DC voltages on power supplies inside the compressor on both mains voltages.

What mains transformer did you use? Do you have a variac to do some tests? I'm kinda suspecting a bad diode in the bridge. Original units used diode for rectification, wouldn't worry about using a tube rectifier.

Don't own a variac but I have a scope...

How would you use the variac in this situation?

I'll check up on the diodes and get back to you if need be.
