I just whipped this up. I am new at layouts and was hoping some folks could give me some constructive criticism.

It's just a basic PS. It is small but can pack a bunch of filter caps up to 4k+ on AC. I wasn't sure what to do with the ground, -bus or plane but I went with a big fat bus since I may etch my own and didn't want the chance of the plane touching something else and making aground loop.

I was glad to do this with only 2 jumpers bt working it out on paper after cursing at the rat's nest. If anyone sees a trick to replace the jumpers I'd be interested how.

It looks basically fine--just a few details:

* If somehow possible, turn D6 for easy visual inspection.
* I'd move C11 to the left such that the pads are within the traces. Makes them more robust when desoldering.
* Move J2 a bit to the left, saves you the little extra turn for C9/C10.
* Why no ground plane? Looks as if it would nicely fill the board.
* And this would make it easy to place C5 and C6 closer to the IC which might not be necessary but surely helps for best stability.
* I find the 45° plus-marks of the lytics irritating--I'd rather prefer 0° ones.

Thanks for you coments Samuel.

-I didn't understand this. Do you mean the Label on silk?

-I dont' have a ground plane because I didn't like the idea of exposed copper with a self-etch. But I will make one if I FAB. I thought ground planes are more crucial when running next to audio/signal paths. Is this wrong?

-I'll see if I can globaly change the package, but this packaging tool in Proteus is briving me a bit batty.

Could you do away with the links like this? Same kind of idea at the top of the board for the other regulator package..

Thanks Jeth, I want the Regs on the edge for heat sink. Sorry, I shou have said that in my 1st post.

50/60 cps = no ground plane

SG is in opamp mode.
It's just a short under the board waiting to happen.
Every time I get a ground plane board to fix, , well first, I go to the parking lot and throw up, then I burn a quick one and go back in and sneakily, which is a word, I just toss it and go make a fresh pot , which pleases the boss who looks like a dumb marine from adam 12, with a swollen face like a gigantic jellyfish, martin milner, who blew his cool, I mean from Route 66 to Adam 12, he must have drunk up his hollywood pay,
And the question was...

It's good practice to keep the cathode on the same side, so it's easy to see if one got the wrong direction. Same applies for polarised caps, but you did that allready. Might not be possible on a single layer board without additional links, so that might ask for a compromise.

What is so bad about using a few jumpers where they allow a better layout (short signal path, star ground, ...) if you are not having 235,000 units made?

I know it is common practice to avoid them when possible but this seems to put more emphasis on the "art" part of the layout than on the "function" part. Now where is that flame shield...

EDIT: Constructive suggestion: When there is space left, i like to include pads for a optional LED+resistor to remind me that the circuit is powered so i don't ruin the brandnew €€€ Knipex wire cutter by cutting powered PS wires... again. The motherboard of my PC has an idiot LED like this which has saved me from plugging stuff into the (powered, but in standby mode) MoBo once.

May be constructive suggestion...
What about using the same type of connectors / screw terminals for in-/output ? From your layout these have different spacing.
Placing gnd at an outer pin of J1 (contrary to J2) may lead to confusion as this lug most often is connected to a transformers center tap.
