Hello All

I'm trying to hook my Calrec to the mini PSU as at Gyraf's site.
I've bought a 15V-0-15V 20VA Toroidal from Jaycar which of course comes without any literature whatsoever. Most of my DIY projects up till know have been battery powered so this is confusing me somewhat.
What leads form the transformer do I connect where?

the transformer has 2 orange leads labelled ip: 0-240v
and yellow,red, white and purple
which are labelled OP: 0-15v(0.67A)

I'm assuming the yellow and red are the primary output - do I need the secondary connected at all on the this PSU?
What leads should be connected to the 0 AC AC 15-20v input on PS board?
Which leads do I connect up to the mains?

Any help much appreciated.

Well the two orange wires go to the wall outlet. and there are two secondarys(windings). you will have to put these together to make one secondary with a center tap.

on the lablel it should show which colors correspond to what windings.

Example:
Draw this out it might help to understand.

yellow and purple are one winding and red and white are another.

SO you would attatch purple and red together to form the center tap.

that would go to the 0 on the PCB and the remaining yellow would go to one AC and the remaining white would go to the other AC. it doesn't matter which AC the yellow and white go to.

These colors are only an example as I do not know what the windings really are.

Get it?

Yellow=0V
Red=+V

White=0V
Purple=+V

Orange are the inputs from the wall socket like Blubird said.
This looks to be powered the same way as a GSSL Compressor, so.....

Tie red and white together for 0V (centre Tap?), and then the Yellow and Purple are 15V each.

If you have Jaycar's 2004 Catalog check it out on Page 133.

I learnt this the hard way....http://www.groupdiy.com/index.php?topic=3781&highlight=short+cicuit

Thanks

That makes sense.
Does it matter which one of the orange input leads from the transformer are connected to L and N on the mains.
Earth on the mains is connected to the chassis?

No.

Yes.

I also need a powersupply like this, can I put a 7805 after the 7815 to get 5V ?

Another PSU had 22uF capacitors after the voltage regulators, why is this?

yes you can put the 5v reg after a 15v reg. the caps after the reg are for smoothing. vreg outputs are usually a little noisy, this helps keep them quiet and smooth.

Sorry for grandmother sucking eggs time - but you have got a fuse after or inside your IEC inlet into the chassis
