I think it's really a matter of which freq points are most valuable to your needs. After that it may be a matter of parts convenience vs accuracy.
There are several ways of achieving the freq points on each band using different combinations of inductor and cap values. The older threads have this worked out pretty well. I think Doug's plan gets the accuracy pretty tight with common cap values plus the additional boosting bands.
I even reworked the lo boost around the cinemag CM-23111 with good results. Haven't posted that one yet.
All of the reworks were based on wanting extra boosting or cutting bands and achieving better accuracy for each band. You can see that with a quick number crunch on the bandpass calculator. I think I got a little better cap efficiency (fewer caps covering more bands) on the couple I did. As long as the resistance values on the Gyraf are observed you have a lot of room for reworking to your preferences.
