I haven't seen anyone post this here yet. The guy from EEVBlog has some videos with a former designer from Rode explaining microphones. All pretty basic and low level even for me but there are some nice bits in there and some interesting opinions, the guy doesn't seem to like transformers as much as we do ;-)

Transformers in mikes are a PITA period. 

But whatever rocks your boat.  Transformers have some really good points .. but not the ones most people imagine  ;D
