Hi folks!

Can you shed some light on the differences and similarities between:
- EQN Laz
- LC53A Capi
- Poor Mans Pulteq (with midband), Ian Thompson

I'm thinking from a sonical and practical usability point of view.
I'll potentially be using one/two for tracking mostly, but mixing and master-bus comments are welcome as well.

They all use inductors and transformers, right?
Are they totally different sounding, as you would use them for different tasks,
or are they more similar  in some ways?
How do they compliment each other, or not?
Are they better matched with a more clean eq, like eg. Calrec PQ1549?

For what i know,  the LAZ Pro EQ is based on the Neve 1084 EQ. Whereas the lc53A is an api EQ Model. I think they both sound good on their own way.
Don't know the pm Pultec though

Yes, Like Weiss said. I've no experience with the api eq. I have built the eqn and a combo of  Ian's pultec (eqp1/meq 5- frankenstein eq) and they both sound great. They are both transformer balanced. The EQN has inductors and Ian's Pultec has inductors on the miss and IIRC on 1 position of the high and low sections. The pultec is more of a sweetener, with a wider band cue, as opposed to a surgical tool. Ian's Pultec also has  a sweet, larger than original source, tube sound. The EQN's are a little more versatile if you are looking for more of a sculpting eq.
