Ireland has lost a few of the greats lately ,
Delores O Riordan in 2018 , the Cranberries singer ,
then in quick succession this year ,Christy Dignam of the band Aslan in June ,
Sinéad O Connor in July and Shane McGowan in November ,
They'd all had troubles in their lives , I think thats part of the reason they were able to connect with people through their music .
McGowan in particular spoke to the Irish diaspora in the UK , life cant have been easy for many with Irish connections there in the bad old days of the 70's, 80's and 90's when IRA bombs were going off .
Dignam ,even though perhaps less well known and famous than the others remains a true hero to his people in the more working class areas of Dublin .
Bono who started off as an activist has turned into shareholder and lobbyist for Facebook and wont say anything of consequence anymore in case it hits his profit margins .
