An unbalanced passive attenuator feeding one 12at7 triode for some gain. There is no additional stage to flip the phase so the signal is inverted when coming out of the valve. Can I just wire the inputs to the pot to feed a reversed phase signal before the 12at7 gain stage without any drawbacks?  For some reason, I'm thinking there are some considerations because I can't wrap my head around the thinking that, although the signal is ac, one of the signals is positive and the other is negative from a  ground point. Seems like the grounded signal is just a reference and not the same as the positive in a single ended scenario? Sorry for the ignorance. So, can just feeding the signal inverted to the attenuator be ok?An explanation would be super nice but not necessary if too much to describe here.
BTW...I'm not ready to consider adding another stage to flip the phase back.
Thanks so much!

Why don't you use the second stage of the 12AT7 to flip the polarity? (it's polarity reversed, phase reverse doesn't exist)

You can use one stage of the 12AT7 for gain the the second stage you can have it at unity just to be able to reverse the polarity of the signal
