just to confirm...

the french braid sheild is the bitch one that needs to be *un-woven* right?

Ive seen some that have almost a spiral like sheild I just wanted to make sure I didnt confuse them...

is there a trick to dealing with unwinding the braid?

im trying to decide on a 500ft spool of belden snake.. and it seemed there "flex" series uses french braid... not sure if the other stuff will be flexible enough...

I was looking at this

ok the belden site sucks!! its all javascript... any way to link to the pages?

Dude....

...

...your links suck!!!

I believe that the french braid is the easy one to unwind, in that it has only a single counter-twist. The bitch-braid is the standard fully-interlaced woven braid.

You guys don't need to unravel the braid. Make a hole through the braid right at the base of the outer jacket after stripping the outer jacket back an inch or so, using a dental pick or awl. Pull the inner conductors through the hole with needle nose pliers or the same pick, and you are done. I can prep cable like this in about 30 seconds. It helps to push back the braid a little as this loosens it up a little.
