Do you mainly use 1-pole or 2-pole for your front panel power switches?

How do you wire it from there to power XF?

The power-light. Is that usually wired from the psu board?

Thanks!

It's safer to cut two poles, so use two pole DPST (or DPDT) switch.
You wire mains power to the switch and from a switch to transformer primary.
Yes, normally it is.

In the States and mainland Europe, where it is possible to insert your mains plug both ways round, I would think that a double-pole is a no-brainer.

A 2 pole is safer, this is the best choice if you need to make operation and control when your grear in switched on

Thanks!

Why use DPDT?

And by how do I know what type of switch is quality enough?
(I've understood that I should avoid cheap switches, but what are the criteria for a good switch?)

you can use a dpdt if you have one because it will work and will save you a few dollars.
