It seems noise level is very low and fig 8 seems to work well as does omni mode. Cardioid mode however is very low output and low bass response. I cleaned everything with alcohol and got rid of some noise I had when I first finished it. The only thing I can think of is that I did a flux wash before I was finished and did not know it could harm styroflex caps which were installed. I saw a post from someone, Salossi I think, that had low output from omni mode and replaced the caps and solved his problem. Sounds like this could have something to do with it so I'm going to try replacing them. One question is what do these styroflex caps have to do with the pattern switching? Any other ideas I may be missing? TIA
P.S. It has a Dale M7 capsule and an Ioaudio body

..if you are listening to your own voice through headphones, try phase reverse (as polarity reverse sounds bad this way) or have someone else speak into mic..

Other than that, please use the dedicated thread in ProjectSpecific/Microphones subforum

Sorry about that! Thanks. I should post new topic from g7 section or find one related and post there? I did the latter and people said , this thread is old so I was not sure. You mean flip the polarity switch on preamp?

After trying the polarity switch, I noticed no difference. The level of figure 8 and omni are -12, the cardioid setting is -30! pretty huge difference!

Also in Omni mode one side of capsule sounds darker. I do not notice any change in fig 8. front and back sound the same. Not sure if this is normal either.

I scraped away coating and found copper. It must have been the coating flaking off. I covered it with solder and will use coating. Does the ground wire for the capsule hookup to all the rest of the grounds?

do you see the rings on this side of capsule? Other side is not like this. Has it got sucked in or affected from to much voltage?
