sorry for the dumbness of this question but ive a quick Q regarding the on off and bypass switch on the GSSL.
i was wanting to have toggles for power and bypass switches replacing the rotarty switch that is on the original encoder.

the bypass part looks easy enough. i take it i just get a SPST and put onto the wires shown going to A and A2 on the rotary.

the power though is a little less straight forward...well for this time of night at least.

given ive a com, on and off. do i need a DPST with the com (C) going to the centre lug, and on (C2) and off(C1) going to each end respectively.
i am missing something or is there an even more straightforward way using a regular SPST?

dont want to just assume i'm right and fry the whole thing before i even get off the ground.

You need to use a DPDT switch for bypass. One pole bypasses the unit and the other disables the makeup gain while in bypass. If you only use a SPST, the unit will bypass, but the makeup gain will still be active.

SPST for the power is fine.

thanks greg,

so does the bypass switch on your model have a middle position then where its basically doing nothing (and in practice you just ignore).

Not exactly. Look for a DPDT with a ON-NONE-ON configuration. A switch like this will only have two positions. Both poles up or both poles down (so to speak). Hope this helps.
