I'm just about finished up my 3rd and 4th GSSLs. A good friend of mine bought the first two I made, so I figured I'd build myself another pair since I went reaching for my SSLs on the last two albums I engineered and my first two weren't there :? . So I'll be mixing next week and I'll have two at my disposal .

They both are identical cosmetically, but have some different guts.

Thanks Gyraf and this forum. :guinness:

@ dufo: I got my front panel engraved by Front Panel Express. I just designed a simple layout with the software I downloaded from their website. I guess it cost about $25-30 per panel. I can't remember exactly.

@ asm: I got the meters from the guy who bought my first two GSSLs. It's a sealed Weston 100uA FSD. The ballistics on it are great. I used a Behringer and a Modutec edgewise on my first two, and this Weston performs so much better. The only downside is that since it is sealed, no lamp or LED illumination.

@ mike: You will see the two together and happy in the near future, once they're both completely up and running. I'm actually waiting on some VCAs .

that really is nice looking. good job.

what knobs are they u r using.

im just about begin my build and i'm torn whether to create a nice looking one or one true to the original.

im starting to veer towards a 2u beast though

I'm have a couple 202s and a couple 2180LBs, but wouldn't mind getting some more. I know it's been talked about alot, but who's the distributor in the states for the THATs? And what's the minimum quantity?

@ neilwight: The knobs are PKES. I get them from Newark. If I'm not mistaken, they're the same knobs Gyraf uses on all his gear. I used them on my G1176 as well as my API 312 pair. I really like how they match up with the aluminum from the engraving. I had to use a 2u chassis because of the Weston meter. Obviously way too big for a 1u. But having the 2u allows for the use of bigger knobs, too, which I like !!! :green:

Mouser is supposed to start carrying them, but it hasn't happened yet...Here are the prices from THAT:

Product MOQ Price Per Piece

2180LA 25 $7.44
2180LB 25 $4.60
2180LC 25 $3.84
2181LA 25 $7.32
2181LB 25 $4.48
2181LC 25 $3.72
2181SA 95 $8.05
2181SB 95 $4.92
2181SC 95 $4.09

Thanks Mike. I'd like to get 10-15 more for myself. I've used the 2180LB in the past and had success, so I was thinking about getting some of those. How many do you want?

So we're really close to the minimum... do you just want me to buy 25 from THAT, then you can buy 9 (or more) from me? I'm sure I'll be able to sell the rest around here if I have extras.

Do you drill the panel yourself then send it to them? Is that how it works? Thanks...

Finally, was that US 25-30 ? Sounds reasonable...
