Hello,

Is there any consideration when building the gssl project to attain the maximum stereo compatibility? Should we strive to match any parts? How does the DIY track in stereo compared to a commercial version(s)?

Thanks!
Bob

It really depends how you define 'maximum stereo compatability'. The GSSL will compress left and right channels exactly thesame amount so there will be no image shifting left or right. But, due to the way the sidechain is implemeted there is a slight chance that out of phase information on one channel may 'fool' the compressor and get through even if its over threshold.

Regarding matching parts. If you want to match anything in the GSSL match the 22k resistors on the input buffer. This will giveyou maximum common mode rejection. Beyond that I wouldn't worry too much about matching.

Cheers,

Kris

None of the SSL-style comps are really amazing at true stereo, but not bad to the point where it's an issue IMHO. Can't comment on the Gyraf yet...
