Hi there. Long time lurker, first time poster.

I just finished building a Hairball Lola and a couple of the 990 op-amps. All went swimmingly. I tested a few of my mics and discovered a single issue. The sE Electronics T2 and sE4400 squeal when the phantom power is turned on. All other mics are fine — including the sE T1 and sE4100.

A friend of mine figured out that the T2 and 4400 mics have an impedance of 22 ohms. The T1 and 4100 have an impedance of 125 ohms.

No other mics even come close to squealing. They’re all dead silent.

Here are the mics I tested:

-sE T2 (BAD)
-Roswell Mini K67x (GOOD)
-Roswell Mini K87 (GOOD)
-Stam SA87i (GOOD)
-sE 4400 (Bad)
-Dachman DA-87i (GOOD)
-sE 4100 (GOOD)
-Lauten LA-120 SDC (GOOD)
-Lauten Atlantis (GOOD)
-AKG P420 (GOOD)
-Lauten LS-208 (GOOD)
-sE T1 (GOOD)
-Sennheiser 416 (GOOD)
-Oktava MK012 (GOOD)

Just for good measure, I tested the sE T2 and the 4400 through the Grace M101 and they’re just fine.

I’ve swapped op-amps thrice (BA-512s, 990s, and even RED-25s).

The 500 series chassis is the Radial Workhorse Sixpack.

Did I mess something up?

I appreciate any insight you may be able to lend me.

Cheers!

Nate
