Just as the topic says...
Ok, this one has only three little holes (2x at the capsule mount, 1x at the cable out)...
Stick something in the two capsule mount holes first???
(Not really in the mood for slaying the mic right now  )

:?

Kind regards

Martin

EDIT: look down for what to do...

Grr, only pic i have from this one, and again, no camera here... :?
M55.jpg

I believe Scott has one in his stock...
In fact, it was a tape recording mic when built, but sounds kinda cool (maybe on sax or coloured voices...)
I saw different versions of connectors, originally should have bin a 3 pole din connector. I have no clue if it actually gives out a balanced signal. Mine has a non stock 6.3 mm mono plug, but i have already seen stereo plugs, but non-stock, too. It's a pretty bad quality cable (i think) and i wish to replace it, but the body of the mic is actually only 2 parts as you can guess from the pic...
No clue how to dissasemble this one, maybe it can't...but i will try tomorrow...

Kind regards

Martin

Looks pretty much like my Beyer M81. Mine has four small holes with pins in them. So far I wasn't able to disassemble it. Haven't tried very hard, though.

I simply replaced the old DIN plug with an XLR plug. The cable had three leads. If I need a longer cable I simply connect a normal mic cable to the fixed cable. That's one of the neat things about XLRs - you can simply connect two cables without using adapters.

My Beyer M81 has a very flat response up to about 15 kHz. Then it drops off very rapidly. There must be some passive filter network in there. This curve cannot be a "natural" capsule response. I think it's a very cool mic. Bought it for about 5 bucks.

 I paid more than 3 times what you paid! A shame  !!!
Very cool mic. 15kHZ and that's it. Yep, same to me. At the moment i experiment the first time with my Electribe MX's audio in: SCOOTER sounds    !
(Fun, fun, fun...)

I think i won't try any longer, as i don't want to damage it in any way...thinking about buying a second one...
It's so cheap...and kind of undisturbable. :green: :thumb:

Kind regards

I also bought a Shure SD565 from the same guy. For 8 bucks :green: It was a bit battered, but after one or two hours work it looked pristine again.

Be nice to your Beyer. It's way to good for Scooter vocals. [If you guys don't know Scooter - never mind, it's a German band. Enormous talent - albeit not in the field of music :? ]

The cable of my M-55 was broken a few days ago, yesterday i noticed it was broken directly at the mic -

So now way around opening it anymore
No, NOT the way CJ would probably do   ...

OK,
on my M55 there are three little holes. Two at the capsule, one at the cable out.
In these holes there are Pins. These are 3mm long. You can push the small pins at the capsule into the mic for nearly 1.5mm. I did it with the leg of a BR.
Then you can pull the capsule off easily, just as wide enough to cut the cable, that's soldered directly to the capsule.
Now get your flat pliers and pull the cable thru the capsule hole (hard enough to get it out completely). The whole break protection can easily be extracted this way.
Now you got the hole free for a nice microphone cable.
My Sommer cable is waiting to be soldered now...
But wait...with a little bit of metal works it should be fairly possible to get a nice XLR in as well...
hmmmmmm :?

Kind regards

Martin

are these still for sale?
would be interesting to send one to CJ, as he now seems infected with the mic-cannibalising-virus too

Yeah, lets figure out this M7 thing.

Mail one to the cabnnibis cannibal. :green:

:guinness:

Hi to everyone here, my M55 was found without connector, I only can see three cables (blue, yellow and transparent) and a shield connected to the body of the mic. Could anyone tell me which cable goes where 1,2,3 of the XLR?
thanks

Am guessing that's the silver version?
I don't remember exactly, but this should be ok:
XLR
1-Schield
2-Yellow
3-White
Blue - not connected

If you have multimeter, check resistance between Yellow-White and Blue-White.
If i'm not wrong you should get 500ohm and 50kohm.
If the 500ohm would be right, check also phase by reversing it on mic preamp.
