Is it the transistor itself, or the output transformer?

After talking to Audioscape tech they made some suggestions and I did some more investigating and recorded proximal to different components (as was similarly suggested earlier in the thread).

The sound reproduction seemed to be coming pretty clearly from the output transformer. So I've sent the unit back to get it in working order.

Thank you everybody for the help and insight. It sure helps when communicating to the technical groups at companies to already have some semblance of understanding from you. Much appreciated!
