Is anyone familiar with this type of cap and how to identify its value?

Hard to get a good picture, but it is striped red, green, brown - it is black on the underside (between the leads)

Attaching the schematic too.  This is for a Mccurdy AT305A, the red markings are the revisions of the A circuit

The cap was strapped across R21 3K resistor.  There is only one capacitor here - based on the colors I assumed this might be the 25pf capacitor?  I'm not seeing any 120pf or 220pf capacitors anywhere, and I have several of these amplifiers.  All of them only have one capacitor in this part of the circuit.

I pulled another from a working unit and dipped in 25 deg C water
Both measured resistance of about 2K
is this an ok method to test for a substitute?

I posted that shematic, didn't know what I was looking at at the time. Sorry. It's a 2.5k thermistor. I have the corrected shematic with voltages and notes, somewhere, I'll post it soon. I added phase, impedence selection, and pad switch. I was looking into using the remote volume plugin as a crude/simple limiter.... I should be finishing that project next winter ;). I have new PCBs (tracing was peeling off) and some 24 pin connectors if anyone needs some.
