hi,
did you read the Meta's at the top of the page?

ya know the ones that say:
[Announcement: PLEASE read before posting-for everyone's benefit.]

ok, to start off....beginners kit?
what is your skill level of electronics, soldering, troubleshooting, and audio engineering?

off the top of my head, i would say the most "beginner" kit out there is a Seventh Circle Audio 312 clone pre (i think they call it the A12).
however, thats not very "beginner" and if you dont know what your doing you can ruin parts of the pre and also injure yourself.

your dealing with moderate to high electricity here, so "injure yourself" should be all caps and blinking.

thanks ... I can solder and I am a relativity new engineer..... but I want to learn to make my own gear. so thanks for directing me .thanks

funny I recomend the 7'th cirle pre to a buddy of mine and was sold. I also suggest the hamptone mic pre. 2 channels is like 500-700 depending on if you do tube or solid sate. but in general I think I mic pre is pretty advanced for a beginner. Start small with passive DI then a passive VU. then continue from there. IF your so set to do a mic pre 7'th circle or hamptone would be the way to go especially cause you can get it with everything.

you dont need to buy directions now that youve found this group. you should however thoroughly read the incredible amount of info before asking your initial quesitons, there is a lot to absorb. Hang out here for a month and you'll have lots of options to chose from for a decent project to start with. I wouldnt advise starting with a tube pre considering that if it doesnt work out of the gate you'll need to trouble shoot it and it can kill you (yes, really).

hang around here a lot and do a lot of reading...
That's what i've been doing (you guessed it right) A LOT and i gained an incredible amount of knowledge about building my own gear by doing so.

Most people in here are super cool and want to help you out, without benefits for themselves other then the good feeling you get when you can share and teach ! Sometimes there's some groupbuys scheduled for hard to find parts, pcb's, transformers, ... So far i didn't hear of any people getting ripped here as well, so we can say this community works very good.

Do check ALL the metastuff, a lot of most newbeesquestions is already asked numberous times, although i myself sometimes don't find what i'm looking for

Welcome, and hopefully you get addicted to DIY as most of us here. We should start calling this place Electronics Anonymous as it is way more addictive then dope or booze.
