Now that THAT has the 1510 (replaces the SSM2016, SSM2017 and SSM2019( available I would like to try and use it in place of SSM2016 in my console. Its not the same pinout and I can't locate a datasheet for the SSM2016.

If anyone has one I would really appreciate a copy. Thanks.

Jim

I had one ... but I loaned it to someone and I think it didn't come back
the 2016 was a larger chip and had some trim capability

we need to find the old PMI SSM app notes

Yes to adapt it to an existing board I would need to make a small card with a 16 pin DIP to plug in place of SSM2016. The card would hold the SSM2019 or THAT chop as well as whatever passives I need to make it work.

Not that the SSM2016 is not a good chip (great actually) but I am just curious on how the THAT would fare.

IIt may not even be that practical to do this. I may be better off using the THAT chip on external designed preamps and bypass the board's current SSM2016 design. Now that I said that I think this is the way to go.

But if you can find that datasheet I would still like to have hit. Thanks.

(what are the PMI notes?)

Jim

Yes I get where you are comming from and it is my intention to look into the same things.
Our Euphonix has 2016 and I'm running out of replacments
I may need a solution one day

Do you have any 1510 samples yet ?

non for me yet and I have been trying

as soon as I find those APPS I'll post on my site and inform all here

Thanks Kev!

I haven't tried for samples yet but I'll check if I can get one or two pieces. I have a feeling that it will be no but I'll try first.

I'll post here if I can get some. If not we may have to do a minimum qty group buy .

The SSM2016 chips are still in abundance. Its just that the minimum quantities are at industrial levels. I have none blown yet, I think they are pretty hardy. My intent is for a better chip.

it's old now as the 3000 was introduced in '96

we did all the upgrades possible as far as I know
so we have all the possibilities available to the analog / digital control
moving faders and the cube etc

CS3000.jpg

looks a bit like this

CS2000 and Cube = a couple od Dynamics units
we have a 5 bay control panel with one master and 4 standard strips
tower is about chin hight and don't remember how many chanel trays
10 .. I guess with 4 per
a number of master Output trays
again I can't remeber how may are in there at the moment
errr
I do know we have a couple in the shop for repair and I should get around to that ... one day

Jim,

I emailed you a copy of the That1512 to SSM2016 adapter board PCB.

I have a copy of the SSM2016 datasheet that Dan Kennedy sent to me. I will see about doing a scan at the shop and email it to you.

Hey thanks Kev interesting info... I used to work for Milkbar studios in Sydney for a couple of years (before they went bust  ). They had an upgraded CS2000 as well - Cube, dynamics, 3000 computer & software (but no moving faders). There aren't heaps of them around, so it always makes me a little nostalgic when I read about them!

Ted, I just responded to your email. Thanks for the info. I thought you had used the SSM2019. I didn't even know the 1512 was being shipped yet!

Were you able to obtain samples or did you have to buy a stick full?

If you could get me a copy of the datasheet (SSM2016) that would be great!

cheers

Jim

Hi Jim,

We were able to buy a couple of 'sticks' for the last Amek console upgrade we did. Nice to have friends in high places!

We did use the SSM2019's before the That 15xx's were available.

I will see about the SSM2016 datasheet for you tomorrow.

Thanks PRR, but I already have those. They are both still available at Analog Device's site. The SSM2016 was available until last year and of course didn't download it at the time. Its no longer there, or at least I couldn't find it.

Jim

I don't have samples Kev!

I have the file for the adapter board but it is in AutoTRAX format and was given to me by Ted (see above).

I'm sure he is OK with it but I will wait for his approval and then I can send it to you.

I don't have the SSM2016 datasheet either.

Jim

Someone at AD might be able to dredge one up if they understood that the purpose was replacement (although I probably wouldn't mention THAT).

I have an ancient SSM databook somewhere in one of about 400 boxes of books in storage ;-).

Like the shock of handling a raw sausage blindfold at a gay party (thanks Viv Stanshall) I have found .........SSM 2016 - Differential Audio Preamplifier, a paper from SSM dated 1986. It has 9 pages so I can either photo copy and send to someone in the UK who can scan it, or I can take digital photos and post what comes out. Take your pick.

Stephen - Can you see if the pineouts are there? This looks like an application document. Its too technical for me but maybe the others may want to have a look at it. I need to compare the SSM2016 to the SSM2019 and THAT design.

Thanks.

Jim
