Hey all,
I recently acquired a busted Ibanez AD230.
Before I bite the bullet and send it off for repair I was wondering if anyone has an idea of what may be wrong.

It seems to have a really bad short.. I opened it up to check for any weirdness in the wiring/components but it looks surprisingly immaculate and all terminals are solid. I reseated the jumpers etc. Tried contact cleaner in the switches.

When turned on, the mode selection LEDS freakout and there's audible popping - you can hear it in the video. It's weird...!!!

Any ideas?

The first thing I always do is measure the voltages on those 8 pin IC's, and see if you have +15v/-15v or something like that.
It can vary between 12v and 18v depending on design, but both polarities should be the same voltage.

If they are the usual dual op-amps the power supply pins are 8 for +V and 4 for -V.

Voltages seem fine..got a little brave and just let it sit on for a while. Eventually it stabilized and stopped popping and I was able to calibrate everything. It sounds f u c k i n g awesome. Turned it off and on again, popping again! I noticed this time that the capacitors on the power section themselves are popping! Like, audible crackling. Obviously not good. My next move is to pull the power board out and investigate. Hoping I just need to replace those two large caps.
