Is there a common cause for rising antisemitism and historic racism?

The House of Representatives has the power of the purse. Budgets largely determine the size of agencies. Start cutting.
Again, how would you get them to do that? Very few members actually want to do that. The question is how to tweak the system to make it work better. That's what Stearns advocates.

What alternatives are there? Socialist revolution?
Gradual shifting is the opposite of a revolution. But history offers clues, Turchin shows how the progressive policies from the early 20th century to the mid 20th century led to a second "Era of Good Feelings" and widely shared prosperity in the US.

As I already answered there is a mechanism in the constitution for amendment.

I only half joke that we are already pregnant with socialism and likely to carry that rapidly growing baby to term. Government giveaways are all but impossible to stop short of running the treasury (and printing presses) out of money.

PS: max-stearns-how-to-repair-americas-broken-democracy/ For the record we are defined as a Constitutional Republic, that may be part of Stearn's confusion.

How do you think your proposed changes will get implemented? Those require major amendments to the Constitution as well.

Platitudes do not describe how something is achieved. You seem unfamiliar with the interplay between the various parts of our government and the (intended) checks and balances.

It was our entry into WWII and the massive expansion of our manufacturing that pulled our economy out of the Great Depression, not FDR's government expansion. The good feelings were brought about by the defeat of Fascism and Japanese Imperialism followed by a return to prosperity. Maybe if you had significant interaction with people who lived through that period in the US you'd understand. I have.

My advice would be to read Stearns's as well as Turchin's books, and things should become clear.

The three recommendations you outlined (from Stearns) require multiple Constitutional Amendments. I don't need to read the book to know that. That should be clear to you after reading the much shorter United States Constitution.

From my understanding his plan is cleverly designed to incentivise current members to vote for the proposed changes, or at least it does not affect their standing adversely.

Nothing ever changes...
I worry that too much is changing too quickly right now.

Antisemitism is the highest I have ever seen since I have been paying attention.

Legislators (and bureaucrats ) are highly motivated to remain in office. A lot of bad behavior is due to pursuit of campaign funds.

Legislators are still superficially responsive to public sentiment.

Suggest you read the amendment process in our Constitution and consider that at least 40% of Americans want nothing to do with a large set of changes like that. If their representatives start voting for stuff like that they will be out of office ASAP.

"Clever" is not a way to work around the will of the people being represented and to circumvent the Constitution in order to radically alter it. That's the sort of thing that can lead to things worse than simple protests. How about focus on fixing your own country's problems (and those of the EU).

I worry that too much is changing too quickly right now.

Why?

Nothing is changing. Fascism as usual, war mongering allover the world with very dodgy allies...

The only thing that's changing, is the rich still get richer and the poor get poorer. Saw some pictures from downtown LA yesterday. My god! That's a third world country. People getting beaten, arrested and murdered for being homeless. All shops closed. No help in sight. It's really, really sad that Americans can't do anything for their fellow men.

Yet there still are people who'd like to help. But they're afraid of the fascist troops. People get arrested, sued and even killed for giving the homeless a meal. Even the nazis had more compassion.

The anti-socialist and anti-communist propaganda machine that started at the beginning of the 20th century still is running. Most of the population is still under it's influence. It clouds their minds and serves the rich very well. "Communism" still is the proverbial red flag for a bull. Anything can be rendered "communist" and thereby made unacceptable. The newest generation seems to be aware of it. Thanks to the internet more and more Americans are becoming aware of the fact that the USA maybe isn't the greatest nation on earth...

And now, let's wait for the comments from heavily indoctrinated fascists.

Certain human traits do seem to persist. Some people want power and control over others. Let's try not to enable them.

No help? Look at the CA budget for homeless and drug addiction assistance. And they've made themselves a "sanctuary state" for how long? Instead of actual help, much of this money goes to enabling the problem rather than actually helping.

Rubbish. Where did you read that?

The anti-socialist and anti-communist propaganda machine that started at the beginning of the 20th century still is running.
It should be. Collectivism leads nowhere good.

We have allowed our country to be run badly for some time now. This is certainly a low point for us in my lifetime. I'm curious though. What country do you think is "the greatest?"

And now, let's wait for the comments from heavily indoctrinated fascists.

Ah, yes, the false dichotomy again. Good job, comrade!

.........Anything can be rendered "communist" and thereby made unacceptable..............

Are you not doing the same thing here?

So, if their comments do not fit in your narrative then they must be indoctrinated fascists?

There's nothing funny about being indoctrinated. Or not knowing your nation's history...

No knowledge, no desire to contemplate whatever. There's only one truth: the one from the propaganda department.

Pot, kettle, black.... (is that racist?)
