Just before i burn the house down, on con1 (next to the psu), is it saying the red plugs into the one labeled black, and the black plugs into the one labeled red. I am so sure it does but find my self questioning why it is labeled backwards

That appears to be the case. But at this stage in the PSU the input voltages are still AC, so polarity doesn't matter at this stage. It's obvioulsy just the way marshall put it together. Probably different departments weren't too fond of meetings! It's best to use a different coloured cable for AC- red and black is a bit of an odd choice.

I find I use my digicam a lot now in the workshop. I take photos of stuff before I take it apart- it's a good reference to go back to when putting stuff back together.

BTW, just a bit of forum etiquette- it's always best to post a continuation of a thread in the original post- so you could have added this to your original marshall thread!
