just took the foam from under the grill on my rode m3 it opened the sound of the capsule. should I cut a strip of chicken wire to replace the foam

just took the foam from under the grill on my rode m3 it opened the sound of the capsule. should I cut a strip of chicken wire to replace the foam. I do have some brass or copper mesh would that work? though this mic went from
dull and dark to more open senhiser like.

I'd use mesh if you're gonna add to the headbasket. Unless you're getting an electrical hum from interference I wouldn't worry about it.
