(K) On schematic......

Well,

The K circles all seem to be connected to components such as connectors, switches and pots. All these items are usually mounted off-board, so the K1 K2 etc must denote the terminals on the board that are connected via wires to these components.

Thanks, I was wondering that - but the odd thing is it seems there are more k's than there are switches/pots/inputs on the proposed interface by the designer....... about 4 k's over....
 
I agree with Mark - the "K" points are either connector points, or test points for reference - something like the Ø-symbols that I use in schematics:

i've tried contacting the designer but so far no response,,, i'm confused about the excess of k's per number of pots and inputs - i could see some pots being 3 different k spots, but then there is the whole complication of which lead goes where...... am i just too new to schematic reading - or are there some important things left out?

any help appreciated.
 
The inconsistent numbering could e.g. come from two PCB's being used (frontpanel and mainboard) and only interconnections between those shown /numbered...
