Hi again to everybody!!!.

In this days I bought a very old and solid state 6 channels mixer, UTC transformers and Triad power transformer, this Mixer have some Langevin singed Cards but the unit itself was manufactured for BUD RADIO INC. The Langevin Card have the following Numers:

Mic Preamp and Sub Master Channels......
AM 4100,
AM 4000,
4543
Langevin

Master........
AM 4700
4558
Langevin

These cards are armed with RCA and anothers no brand print Transistors that I need to change......

RCA Transistors.......
2N3053

no brand print Transistors.....
1101 501
1401 501

I had search for every web site and I hadn't find anything about,
Do you know where I can find Information about these Langevin cards and its schematics?? or
Where I can find the BUD RADIO INC. technical information???
Where I can find these kind of transistors???...Who sell these transistor today??

I will be pending of any comment.
Opacheco.

Bud was a maker of cabinets and racks; still in business actually.  That is a generic part that someone used to make this mixer out of Langevin parts, I think.  They did not make electronic products to my knowledge.

emrr.......YES, my mixer look like this kind of equipament!!!!!.......Do you know how cantact to them???? or Do you know where I can find schematics for these Langevin cards???
.....By the way my cards looks like AM 301 Cards.....http://98.130.103.79/rc/picdisplay.asp?itemkey=54

Thanks a lot,
Opacheco.

I don't have the information, but I know I have seen those schematics before.  They must be online somewhere.

They are very simple. You can trace the schematic by inspection. On all but the Line Driver card, all transistors are NPN and not critical. The little ones are generic high gain low noise. Gain is adjusted with a resistor from the NFB bypass cap to ground.

PRR, YES that is very simple and I did the schematic by myself BUT.....I need a advise for the Transistors in order to get the really goods ones becasue I do not found any seller for these unknow transistors(1401 501 and 1101 501)........

Someone know What is the spec. for these transistors in order to change it for similar o better transistors???

Thanks a lot

I will wait for any comment in order to get the better transistors.

"Better"? Who said they were "good"? Just about ANY low-noise small-signal transistor you can find today IS better than the best stuff they could get then. The circuit IS designed to work with un-good transistors.

They are surely from the 2N5088/2N5089 process.

Sorry but......Which ones specifically do you believe are a Good Option?

The black plastic ones with three pins.

My friend bought a " Gately " mixer that looks very similar to the AM 500 mixer
all rack mount and  just the  building blocks of a  simple mixer .
If anyone has any info on early " gately " , please let me know .

For the transistors try 2N1101 and 2N1401

You can find specs and replacements by googeling "transistor cross reference" The most common is the NTE replacements if you can find them at a local electronics parts store.

Thanks a lot for your response....

But ,What data in these DATASHEET show the Low Noise???
Opacheco.

> try 2N1101 and 2N1401

Those are Germanium. This Langevin is a Silicon design.

> What data in these DATASHEET show the Low Noise???

For clean Silicon devices, noise is fairly consistent and predictable.

However, if you look-up 2N5088/2N5089 datasheets, they do have noise curves. This is whay they were very commonly used at that time.

transistor 1101 may be replaced with a 2N929
transistor 1201 or 1401 may be replaced with a 2N2897 or a 2N3053

Suggested replacement parts from AM-16 manual.

Have fun.

Cheers!
