M-Audio Nova Any thoughts

I was just in my local Guitar Center. I was picking up odds and ends to finish a project studio. I was going to get some mxl 2001 mics when the saleman talked me into buying the m-audio nova. I bought 3 of them with the idea of modding at least one into a g7. Any opinions on these mics. I haven't had a chance to try one yet.

I have no experience with the Nova but I received the Luna for testing and it was probably the worst sounding condenser I ever tried. I also heard other folks saying the same thing.

man, thats comical. cause i remember a while back reading an article that compared a luna stereo pair to a schoeps in a classical recording and the guy said he liked the luna better.

i forget were talking about Maudio microphones here. guy must have pocketed some cash for that comment.

The M-audio distributor in my country is a good friend of mine and he always send me various things to test because he trust my opinion.
After I made the test I told him what I think. He told me that he also made some tests and thought that the mike sound bad but he was curious about my opinion.

Please take a picture of the capsule and measure the diameter of the capsule.

I was looking at one some months ago but I could not see thur the grill well to identify the capsule. If you can't take a picture the overall dia in mm 32mm or 34mm, the screws per hold down ring. 12 or 16 or and the hold down materal plastic and color, or brass or....

I know what you mean. I got a buddy who does gear reviews for pro audio review. I can't recall what exactly he was reviewing but the quote he gave me about it was "they did a lot of creative editing in order to make the review come out like that" It's amazing you can't give bad press on reviews it's just not done anymore.
I own am m-audio oxygen 8 which was pre digi. I won't buy from them now.
As for the luna it was probably more $ then the MXL. I would say return the mics but I doubt that is possible. In Ca you can't return a mic after purchase unless it's a defect because of health codes.

Is the Luna the one with the same brass capsule with the strange echo chamber inside as one of the cheap groove tubes ?, someone on here was messing about with a groove tube... I think.

I am certainly no expert, but in my opinion the Luna capsule is ok.... and I like the mic stock better than the M*X*L 2001 stock... I modified my pair from suggestions made by Gus and Bo... all of the info is in that thread above. I never did do that sound comparison, sorry guys... Also I never relammed the transformer.
