Metal springs for mic shockmount

Dear Forum

I'm planning a shockmount and is investigating the use of metal springs (which I saw in an old movie) instead of the usual elastic materials. I do suspect that metal springs will suffer from some kind of mechanical resonance and/or the transfer of vibration. Does anyone have any experience in this regard?

Microtech Gefell uses a spring in one of their capsules and uses a string of glue across the windings.
Sennheisser MD441 has an internal shockmount consisting of a double copper spiral filled with
a kind of silicon paste.

Try heat-shrink tubing on the spring, should damp it a bit...
