metcal de-soldering impression

welp... the metcal was delivered today... though it was advertised as "new in box" on ebay... its obvious that its been used (atleast a few hours)

was all excited to try it out... only to find two problems...

1. the tip I ordered from HMC is back ordered.. got the damn tip cleaner but NO tip!!! ugh

2. the stupid ass station is missing the inline filter.. I know I can just connect the two hoses for now.. but I would like to put the filter inline... ive been looking around to find one and I think the one that its suppose to use is like $60? :evil:

I emailed the seller... but ofcourse they are not responding back... what A-Holes.... the thing was NOT cheap ($300)

anyhow... overall impression of build quality... its very, very nice... very heavy duty.. built like a tank.. and the gun feels comfy in the hand...

Congrats on yer new toy/tool.

1)

2) about right...we tried to find a sub and even tried using the one we had for the Pace, but since the Metcal filter is completely sealed nothing else worked as well. YMMV

3) $300 is less than half of new, I recall it being about $650 new...

I put a dessicant air dryer and pressure regulator in front of my metcal desoldering handle and it works pretty well.
